AI for Transforming School Education (Research Initiative)
Introduction:
This research initiative aims to use advanced AI technology to transform learning experiences in under-resourced schools. The project, led by Farhan Abdul Khaliq, is being conducted in partnership with Awadh Girls Inter College at a rural girls’ school in Uttar Pradesh.
Objective:
The main objective is to evaluate how an agentic, chapter-aware AI tutor can improve learning outcomes by assessing students’ descriptive answers and providing detailed, rubric-based feedback. The system is designed to return scores across five dimensions, along with student-friendly explanations to enhance understanding and engagement.
Methodology
1. Workshop Phase: The first hands-on workshop ran from September 13 to 14, 2025, involving 25 students. During this phase, students interacted directly with the AI tutor to submit typed, descriptive responses rather than multiple-choice answers.
2. Analysis Phase: A large-scale study is planned with approximately 1,200 students to analyze the broader impact and effectiveness of AI-driven assessment.
3. Evaluation: The initiative will focus on measuring the effects on student engagement, learning outcomes, and equity of access to technology.
Results and Next Steps:
Initial feedback from the workshop was positive, with students reporting improved clarity and confidence in their academic work. The next phase will expand the participant pool for robust data analysis and lead to a journal publication documenting the results and educational implications.
Conclusion:
This initiative demonstrates the potential of AI to personalize learning, reduce inequities, and support girls’ education in resource-constrained settings. By promoting technology-driven assessment and feedback, it seeks to set a new benchmark for meaningful classroom transformation
